Benefits
Windows Autopatch will patch the registered device using Windows Update for Business Service. This will include:
Windows Feature Updates
WIndows Quality Updates
Microsoft 365 Apps
Microsoft Edge browser
Microsoft Teams
What I like so far…
Windows Autopatch reminds me of SCCM’s Automatic Deployment Rules (ADR), but everything is managed by Microsoft. If there are any issues, the administrators that are registered are notified. The support is fast and hopefully this will be faster as more and more customers are using this service.
The automatic updates are nice features but it will only work for certain channels such as Monthly Enterprise Channel for Microsoft 365. So if you have semi-annual, this is unfortunately some improvements that the Project Managers knows about and will continue to provide updates to the service.
The registration process can be slow at first but once it is registered there are a lot of settings that the device has to update, so be patient.
I will be adding more in this article as I keep using my Autopatch for my test devices.
More to come…
